Bug Club
Bug Club is a consistent and progressive scheme that we can use from EYFS through to Year 2. It has a repetitive structure so no time is wasted. We also use this programme for interventions to support children in LKS2 with attainment gaps.
We have also purchased the Bug Club Reading Scheme. These books are matched to the phonics that are taught in school, so the children will have the opportunity to practise what they are learning phonetically. Children also have access to matched phonics books online through the Bug Club website.
Assessment is an integral part of the programme, with summative assessments built into the planning. We also assess leaning on a day to day basis to provide same day interventions for children who found the new learning challenging or who missed sessions due to absence. The assessment also helps to prepare children for the Year 1 phonics screening.
